Pier Nabuurs studied electrical engineering and graduated in telecommunications from Eindhoven Technical University. During many years he held jobs in de management of R&D at Philips and Océ. Later he got different management jobs on Executive level.

From 2002 till 2011 Pier Nabuurs was CEO of KEMA, an international company specialized in high-grade technical energy consultancy and R&D, inspection, testing and certification and innovation.
Mr. Nabuurs is involved in many discussions on energy systems of the future.

Until June 2009 he was chairman of the Advisory Council for the Technology Platform Smart Grids in the EU. Pier Nabuurs is chairing the Smart Energy Collective and temporary Chairman of the Topsector Energy.
